May 5, 1991, Division One: United 1 Manchester City 0 (h) - The Full Debut "The main memory I have of that day is when the manager read out the team about an hour and a half before kick-off and said my name! I always try to listen at the gaffer's team-talks but I wasn't too sure what he'd said at that point. I thought I'd have been one of the subs, but from then on I was pretty nervous up until kick-off. "I think my goal was an own goal and if it had happened in this day and age, I think it would be down as an og. But the record books say it's my goal, so I'll take it!" May 3, 1993, Premiership: United 3 Blackburn Rovers 1 (h) - The Title Returns Home "The result didn't seem to matter because we were already champions, but when you get out on the pitch you want to win no matter what. A few of the other lads had sore heads from Steve Bruce's party the night before, but Blackburn's goal gave us a bit of wake-up call. "The free-kick I scored was probably the best I've ever scored and thankfully it got us back into the game because we knew we couldn't lose. Along with the Champions League final, it was probably the greatest moment of my life." October 1,1997, Champions League: United 3 Juventus 2 (h) "This was definitely a significant result for us because Juventus had consistently been the best team in the Champions League over that two or three-year period. We'd played them a couple of times before that game and they'd beaten us home and away. "I remember having a stinker in Turin the season before and the manager brought me off at half-time. So I was determined to do well in this game. "I think it was probably one of my best European performances for United and the goal was just instinctive. I beat a couple of their men and before I knew it I was in the box and at that stage I was only thinking of one thing - shooting!" April 14, 1999, FA Cup Semi-Final Replay: United 2 Arsenal 1 (Villa Park) "That night was full of mixed emotions for me, to be honest. I was obviously very proud to have scored the goal, but shortly afterwards I picked up an Achilles injury and I ended up leaving the ground on crutches. "I didn't know the goal was anything like it was; I thought I'd picked it up about thirty yards out, beat one, maybe two men and scored. I didn't actually realise that I'd got it on the halfway line and beat three or four players until I got home and watched it on television! I do cringe a little bit when I see the celebration but sometimes when you score you just don't know what you're doing. The funny thing was the fans that ran onto the pitch were a few of my mates. It was weird seeing fans coming towards you and then the next minute getting kissed on the cheek by your mate! "I think that game gave us the belief to go on and beat Juventus and eventually do the Treble." May 26, 1999, Champions League: United 2 Bayern Munich 1 (Nou Camp) "I can remember the game quite clearly but the last five minutes are definitely a blur. After scoring the goal so late, I think we all thought, right, we can go and beat these in extra time. But then a minute later we get a corner and score again. Looking back, it's a good job my right foot isn't the best otherwise I would never have been able to put that great pass through to Teddy for the equaliser! "The moment at the final whistle was weird. Since I was a youngster I've seen players win the FA Cup and cry and I could never understand it. But as soon as the referee blew the final whistle in the Nou Camp I just went; there was nothing I could do about it." . August 8, 2001, Testimonial: United 3 Celtic 4 "The whole year was full of dinners, golf days and other things, but the game was the pinnacle for me. It was a great night but very weird at the same time because everything is all about you."

רובסון, בחייאת. (נערך ע"י פולדש). מצטער, נסחפתי.... http://www.asoccer.co.il/forum/html/emoticons/wink.Xxx
כמה קטעים של ראיון עם רוי קין באחד מהפאנזינים של יונייטד ארוך אומנם אבל שווה לקרוא: was a bit out of order to say what I did about the FA Cup in my book. I look back וand think: 'who was I to criticise the FA Cup?' It was wrong of me to do that because a lot of people then jumped on the bandwagon and started looking at the FA Cup as a consolation. I looked back at all the old pictures, not just the finals but 3rd round replays. The FA Cup had changed but it was still a great competition. I thought I was wrong to contradict myself, but when I walked out at Villa Park and saw the United fans I thought: "Who was I to criticise the FA Cup?' I'm saying it now. I shouldn't have said it. I see the joy it gives people. All the staff and the families in Cardiff. And the fans too. The atmosphere at Villa Park was unbelievable from the United fans who make proper sacrifices. Players talk about making sacrifices and I say: "what sacrifices, it's the fans who make the sacrifices." The fans who at were at Villa Park. I think, that would be a nice buzz, you know what I mean? You see different fans and the rivalry of what it meant to beat Arsenal that day and you realise that's who you are playing the game for, what it means to people. If you get beat at Old Trafford and you are driving home on a Saturday then it means a disaster of a weekend, a disaster. And you just can't wait for the next match to put it right. If I'm feeling bad then I know for a fact that United fans are one hundred times worse. It's in their blood. The bottom line for footballers is that we're getting well paid to do it. And if we get a better offer the chances are we might look at it. We all harp on about how we love the club and blah, blah, blah and that's maybe trying to send a message to the fans to say: 'Aren't I great' but the bottom line is that if someone comes in with a better offer, if you're not in the team, if you're being played out of position or if the gaffer has had a go then some will look somewhere else. A lot of players have done that over the years because they've got big egos and they don't want people to tell them off. Are you genuinely aware of the sacrifices some fans make? The fans who've taken £5,000 loans of sharks to go on a pre-season, who've ruined relationships, who've been to prison. Because of United. Of course I do. That's why I don't play the ego card. I know we're fortunate. We go on private jets, stay in top hotels. Everything is done for us. Even if we watch a movie someone pays for it. So why do players give it: "I've supported United all my life and had a picture of Joe Jordan in my bedroom" before they sign? Well I didn't. I was a Tottenham fan because I wanted to be different. And because of Glenn Hoddle. But all my family were United fans! It's all a game. Players may think that if they have a bad game then the fans will leave off them if they think they're a big United fan. But the fans aren't stupid I know; I speak to them all the time. I was in a bar the other night, the one night we've been out on this trip so don't think we've been out on the piss. Some people really annoy you but there were a couple of lads with Manchester accents. Lads who weren't about to start tugging at my collar. I knew they were United fans and I said 'alright lads'. They knew the score. They just wanted to leave us in peace. I've got time for people like that. Gazza's one of two players from the last 10 or 15 years I would have paid to watch. One of two who really excited me. Rooney is the other one. I watched him against Bolton a while ago and he hit the post about six times and destroyed them. Maybe a young Giggsy too. Maybe I would have paid to watch him
Noureddine Naybet declared: "Ive played United in Europe very often and this is not the same team I used to know. The fact is Manchester Uniteds cycle of glory is over and Arsenals has begun. I think they are at a low point and they have lost a lot of the qualities which made them so great. Roy Keane is their leader on and off the pitch and Ive been following all that hes had to say about his team-mates and its impossible not to agree with what he says." Though Keane's strike partner, Freddie Kanoute, agrees with Naybet "The best thing is that scoring goals gives the team confidence. We feel we can give United problems."
